## The answer goes at the front

Long-form explainers can tease. A vertical short cannot: the viewer arrived from a feed, they will give you three seconds, and a video that says “to understand this, we first need to talk about” has already lost them.

So this preset answers in scene two and spends the rest of the video making the answer make sense. Counter-intuitively that increases watch time rather than reducing it, because a person who has been given an answer they do not yet believe stays to find out why it is true.

## One idea, and how to tell if you have picked one

The test is whether the question fits in a search box. “Why aeroplane windows have a tiny hole in them” does. “How aviation works” does not, and a forty-second video about it will be a list of assertions with nothing connecting them.

If your subject needs two videos, make two. This page writes a minute and the pipeline stops at three, and a short that tries to cover a syllabus ends up covering nothing — which is worse than a narrow video that somebody finishes.

### Are the explanations correct?

They come from a language model’s general knowledge, which is good on settled science and unreliable on anything recent or contested. The script is free to read before you render — read it, and fix the line rather than the video.

### Can it draw a diagram?

No. The image model produces photoreal or stylised frames, not labelled diagrams, and a generated “diagram” is usually confident nonsense with invented labels. The explanation lives in the narration and the captions.

### How long will it be?

Five or six scenes, thirty-five to fifty seconds spoken. That is the band where a single-idea explainer holds all the way through.

### Can I use a different voice?
