That is why the defaults are what they are: the softest voice, the lo-fi bed, and captions turned off entirely. Burned-in captions are the brightest, highest-contrast thing on a phone screen, and at bedtime they are exactly wrong.

## No jeopardy, and why that is harder to write than it sounds

A language model asked for a story will introduce a problem, because that is what stories are. A bedtime story is a place described until it becomes calm, and the brief has to say so explicitly: nothing lost, nobody frightened, any small problem resolved inside its own scene.

The last scene is the one that matters most. It should settle rather than conclude — a harbour going quiet, a light going off — rather than delivering a moral, which wakes a listener up rather than letting them go.

## What it cannot do

It stops at three minutes — one minute on a free account — which is short for a bedtime story, and this page writes to the default minute. There is no long-form mode and no way to string several together automatically, so what this makes is one calm minute rather than a twenty-minute sleep track.
