Video Description Generator

A description and a hashtag set for TikTok, Shorts and Reels — one per platform.

  • 01Say what the video is. One line about the subject. The tone is worth adding if it is unusual.
  • 02Three versions. TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels each get their own description and tags.
  • 03Copy, or make the video. Each one copies out, and each has a button into the generator if the video does not exist yet.

The subject and, if it matters, the tone. One description comes back per platform.

01

The three feeds want three different things

A TikTok description is short, conversational and carries three to five specific hashtags — the generic ones do nothing except tell the algorithm you had no idea what your video was about. A Shorts description is closer to search copy: the first line matters because it is indexed, and it should read like something a person would type.

An Instagram Reels caption sits somewhere between the two, and its first two lines are the only ones visible before “more”. Writing one description and pasting it into all three is the most common mistake in this part of the job, and it is why this returns three.

02

Why the hashtag counts are small

Thirty hashtags is a signal that you are guessing. Three to five specific ones describe the video; a wall of them describes nothing, and every platform’s ranking has been indifferent to volume for years.

So each description here comes back with a small, specific set that matches what the video is actually about. If you want the wall, you can add it — but nothing in the last few years suggests it will do anything for you.

Questions

Why three descriptions instead of one?

Because the three feeds want different copy. TikTok wants short and conversational, Shorts wants a first line that reads like a search query, and Reels hides everything after the second line. One description pasted into all three underperforms on at least two.

How many hashtags should I use?

Three to five specific ones. A wall of thirty is a signal that you are guessing, and no platform’s ranking has rewarded volume for years.

Does the description affect reach?

It affects search and discovery more than the feed. On Shorts especially, the first line is indexed, which is why it is written to read like something a person would type.

Can it write the title too?

The YouTube title generator on this site does, ten at a time, all under sixty characters. It is free under the same account.

Do I need to have made the video?

No, and if you have not, the buttons here open the generator with your subject loaded. Writing the description first is a reasonable way to find out whether the video is worth making.

Is there a rate limit?

A few runs an hour per account, which is enough for a week of posting.
