Method

How these numbers are produced

  • Source: the YouTube Data API searches behind our /trending/youtube-shorts AI niche pages. Each niche runs one search (cached for a day, so at most once a day): videos YouTube classes as short, published in the last 45 days, ordered by view count, US region, English relevance, first 50 results.
  • From those 50, each niche page keeps Shorts of three minutes or less with at least 1,000 views, ranks them by views per day since upload, allows at most two per channel and keeps the top 24. Those ranked lists are the sample, and each niche page shows its list in full. So this describes AI Shorts that are already winning in search, not every AI Short.
  • A niche's search is used only if it was fetched in the last 7 days. A video that appears in two niches is counted once.
  • Views per hour = views at fetch time ÷ hours between upload and fetch (minimum one hour). Medians throughout, so one viral outlier cannot move a figure.
  • Question = the title contains “?”. Number = any digit. Emoji = any Unicode pictographic character. Hashtags are read from the title and the first 300 characters of the description, lower-cased, and counted once per video.
  • The sample is a few hundred videos at most, chosen by YouTube search, so treat small differences — especially the with/without comparisons — as noise unless they are large.
  • Recomputed from the cached searches on every page refresh (at most every 15 minutes); the page itself never calls YouTube. No figure on this page is typed in by hand.

Niches included: AI shorts, AI-generated video, AI cartoon, AI animation, AI stories, AI animal, AI fruit drama, AI ASMR, AI brainrot, AI anime. AI tools tutorials are left out: they are videos about AI products, not videos made with them.

Questions about this data

How many views does a trending AI YouTube Short get?

In the latest sample (132 trending AI-niche YouTube Shorts from 112 channels, fetched Oct 19, 2026), the median was 2,281,324 views at a median age of 19.8 days, or 5,241 views per hour since upload. That is the median of Shorts that already rank in AI niches, so it is a picture of what winning looks like, not of a typical upload.

How long are the titles of trending AI Shorts?

The median title was 77 characters and 12 words, across 132 videos.

Do questions, numbers or emoji in the title get more views?

6.8% (9 of 132) of titles ask a question, 16.7% (22 of 132) contain a number and 56.8% (75 of 132) use an emoji. The page shows median views per hour with and without each one. Those are correlations in a small, already-successful sample — not proof that adding an emoji causes views.

Which hashtags do trending AI Shorts use?

The most used were #shorts (119 videos), #ai (56 videos), #viral (36 videos), #funny (26 videos), #trending (19 videos), counted once per video across titles and description openings.

Where does this data come from?

From public YouTube metadata — titles, counts, durations and upload dates — returned by the YouTube Data API for the searches behind our trending AI niche pages. No transcripts and no private data. The method section lists every rule.

How often is it updated?

Each niche search runs at most once a day (sometimes less often, when the daily YouTube quota is spent) and the page recomputes from those cached results at most every 15 minutes. The fetch dates and sample size are printed beside the figures.

Can I cite these numbers?

Yes. Cite “Veedio, AI YouTube Shorts statistics: what the trending ones have in common” with the link and the fetch dates shown on the page, because the figures move as the data refreshes.
