Everything in CapCut’s column comes from their own public pages, read on 20 October 2026 and linked at the bottom of this page, so you can check every claim yourself. We have not audited any of it.

CapCut is free, enormous and better than us at everything that happens after a draft exists. It runs on desktop, web, mobile and tablet, it costs nothing to start, and a very large share of the short-form video on the internet was cut in it. We are not going to pretend to compete with that and this page does not try.

The difference is where each one starts. CapCut is a timeline first: it gives you complete control over footage you have, and on its paid plans it now generates video too — its homepage offers an AI video generator that turns “text, images, or keyframes into videos”, metered in AI credits (read 20 October 2026). Veedio is a generator only: it assumes you have a sentence and produces the script, the frames, the voiceover and the captions from it. Neither replaces the other, and the workflow a lot of people end up with is ours for the draft and theirs for everything after.

What CapCut does better

Five things, unhedged. If any of them is what you are buying, they are the better purchase and this is the paragraph that says so.

It is free, properly

Their homepage leads with “Try online for free” and “No credit card required”, and their pricing page lists a Free plan at USD 0 (read 20 October 2026). Nothing we do is free at that scale.

Complete manual control

A real timeline with real tools. Anything you can imagine doing to a clip, you can do — which is not true of a generator with a dropdown.

It works with your own footage

The thing we cannot do at all. If the video is of you, of your product or of a place, CapCut is where it belongs.

It runs everywhere

CapCut Desktop, CapCut Mobile, CapCut Pad and CapCut Online, per their own site (read 20 October 2026). We are a web product and nothing else, so editing on a phone is not something we do at all.

An enormous community

Templates, tutorials and trends move through CapCut first. Being the default has compounding advantages that a small product cannot buy.

And what we lose at, on every page

  • 20 stock voices, and that is the entire catalogue. They narrate 29 languages, but cloning your own voice is Pro and Studio only, in the app, and there is no accent picker and no marketplace of voices to pick from for a different niche.
  • No video or audio goes in. Footage you already filmed cannot be captioned, clipped, dubbed or repurposed — an image or a PDF can be uploaded as a *source*, but the video is always built from scratch.
  • No 4K. Every render is 1080-class, and there are five caption styles — bold, pop, highlight, subtle, none — all burned in, with no subtitle file and no custom font.
  • Three minutes is the ceiling. No face swap and no translation of an existing video. Presenter scenes on Pro and Studio pick from a roster of 4 hosted faces or one made from your own photo — but nothing puts your face into footage you already have.
  • No review score, because we are new. A made-up one is the fastest way to deserve a bad one.

This is the workflow we would actually recommend and it costs us nothing to say. Generate the video here — the script, the frames, the voice, the timing — download it without a watermark, and open it in CapCut for whatever the draft is missing: a trending sound, a text overlay, a cut you want tighter, a clip of your own on the front.

The reason it works is that the two products are strong in opposite places. The blank page is our problem to solve and the last ten per cent is theirs. A generator that pretended to be an editor would be a worse editor than a free one, and we are not going to build that.

Is Veedio a CapCut alternative?

Not really. CapCut is an editor first and we are a generator only. If you have footage, CapCut is free and better at everything that happens to footage. If you have nothing filmed, CapCut’s paid plans include an AI video generator; Veedio is the narrower tool that makes the whole short — script, a frame per line, voice and captions — from one sentence.

Can I edit a Veedio video in CapCut?

Yes, and it is a good workflow. The export has no watermark on any plan, so you can generate the draft here and finish it there — a trending sound, a text overlay, a tighter cut.

Is CapCut free?

There is a Free plan at USD 0, and their homepage says “No credit card required”. Their pricing page, read on 20 October 2026, also lists Pro at USD 19.99 a month or USD 179.99 a year with 1,200 AI credits a month, and Ultra at USD 79 a month or USD 900 a year with 8,645, and says displayed pricing is for reference only until you sign in.

Can Veedio edit my own footage?

No. No video and no audio can be uploaded to Veedio on any plan — a PDF or a picture is as far as the uploader goes. Every scene is built from the script: a generated frame, a Pexels clip or a presenter speaking the line, and none of it can be footage of yours.

Which is faster?

We have not timed CapCut’s AI video generator, so we will not claim either way. What each does: Veedio takes one sentence and returns the whole short — script in seconds, render in a few minutes, with a frame per line, voice and word-timed captions. CapCut’s generator turns text, images or keyframes into video on its paid plans, and its editor is where the last ten per cent of a video that already exists gets done, by hand.
