FAQ
New Year video questions
What are good New Year video ideas?
A Happy New Year wish for family far away or for friends, a countdown to midnight for the party or your feed, a New Year’s Eve invitation, your resolutions as a short, a family or creator year in review, a small business thank-you with holiday hours, and a trivia quiz, would-you-rather or POV for YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels. Every idea on this page comes with a prompt you can use as written.
When is New Year’s Eve this year?
New Year’s Eve 2026 is Thursday, December 31, and New Year’s Day 2027 is Friday, January 1. A video for midnight is best made and checked a day or two before, so there is time to read the script and correct a name or an hour.
How does a New Year countdown video work?
A countdown is read aloud by the narrator and shown in the captions, number by number, over fireworks and party scenes; the frames themselves carry no numbers, because generated lettering comes out garbled. The video is a file and does not know what time it is, and the narrator’s pace is not timed to a clock, so it is made for posting and for playing at a party, not for keeping time to the second at midnight.
What does a resolutions video say?
A resolution video is built from the resolutions you type, in your own words and order, with an encouraging close. It does not promise a result, add a health, diet or money claim you did not make, or quote a statistic about how many people keep their resolutions.
Do these ideas work on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram Reels?
Yes. Most of these ideas open as vertical videos, the format Shorts, TikTok and Reels use, so the same video can be posted to each. The lesson preset starts in landscape for a classroom projector, and the composer switches between the two. Nothing is filmed and nobody has to appear on camera.
Does it cost anything?
Reading the ideas and copying the prompts is free. Turning a prompt into a finished video needs a Veedio plan. Plans from $7/month.
