Morning Meeting Question Generator

Ten morning meeting share questions for your grade — open, inclusive and easy to answer out loud — free with an account.

  • 01Give the grade. And a topic or season, if the questions should tie to what the class is learning.
  • 02Ten open questions. Each one answerable out loud in a sentence, by every child in the room.
  • 03Make a morning message. Hand one to the morning meeting video maker for a narrated, captioned message on the board.

Give the grade, and a topic or season if you want the questions tied to it.

01

A question every child can answer

The share in morning meeting only works if every child can take part, and plenty of “fun” questions quietly leave someone out: where did you go on vacation, what did you get for your birthday, what does your mom do. This is told to avoid questions that depend on money, travel, family structure, religion or holidays some children do not celebrate.

What is left is the good kind of question: what would you name a new planet, which is better, a rainy day or a snowy day, what made you laugh this week. Open enough to have no wrong answer, short enough to answer in one sentence when it is your turn.

02

Pitched to your grade, tied to your week

Tell it the grade and the questions are pitched there — simpler and more concrete for kindergarten, a little more to think about for fourth and fifth grade. Tell it what the class is learning or what week it is, and some of the questions tie to it, so the share becomes a way into the day rather than a break from it.

It never asks for personal information, and student names should not be typed into it. Read the list and keep the ones that fit your room — ten arrive at once so you can throw away the ones that do not.

Questions

Is it really free?

With a free account and no card, yes. Each run is one language-model call, which costs us a fraction of a cent. Turning a result into a narrated video is the step that spends credits.

Can I get would-you-rather or this-or-that questions?

Yes. Ask for them in the box — “would-you-rather questions for a Friday” — and the questions take that shape.

Are the questions safe for every child?

They are written to avoid money, travel, family structure, religion and holidays some children do not celebrate, and never to ask for personal information. Read them before you use them, because you know your room.

Can I use them without making a video?

Of course. Write one on the board or say it out loud; the list is yours. The video is there for the days you want a narrated morning message.

Is there a limit?

Up to a dozen runs an hour per account, which is plenty for planning a month and not enough to be worth scraping.

What happens when I press “Make a morning message”?

The question goes to the morning meeting video maker’s composer, with its voice, look and brief already set, and becomes a short narrated message that ends on it. Rendering is the step that spends credits.
