Sunday School Lesson Idea Generator

Eight Sunday school lesson ideas for your age group and theme — a passage and the big idea for each — free with an account.

  • 01Give the age and theme. A series, a season or a value — creation, courage, Advent — for the class you teach.
  • 02Eight lessons. A passage by reference and the big idea in one sentence a child could understand.
  • 03Make one a video. Hand a lesson to the Sunday school video maker, add your memory verse, and open the class with it.

Give the age group and a theme or season. Passages come back as references, so you read them in your own translation.

01

Passages by reference, read in your translation

Each idea is a Bible passage and the one big idea a lesson on it would teach. The passage comes back as a reference rather than as quoted text, so you read it in the translation your church uses — and so you can check the reference before you build a lesson on it.

It is a language model, and it can get a verse range wrong. It is told to give the chapter alone when it is unsure of the exact verses, and every idea should be checked against your Bible before it reaches a class, the same as anything else you teach.

02

A term of lessons in one sitting

Planning a series is mostly choosing passages that build on each other: creation week by week, courage across the summer, the road to Christmas through Advent. Give it the theme and the age group and it suggests a run of passages with the big idea for each, so the planning starts from a shortlist rather than a blank page.

It stays suitable for any Christian denomination unless you say otherwise. Use it for your own lessons — it suggests passages and ideas, and it does not reproduce any publisher’s curriculum.

Questions

Is it really free?

With a free account and no card, yes. Each run is one language-model call, which costs us a fraction of a cent. Turning a result into a narrated video is the step that spends credits.

Which Bible translation does it use?

None: it gives references, not quoted text, so you read each passage in your own translation.

Will the references be right?

Usually, but check them. It is told to give the chapter alone when it is unsure of the exact verses, and every lesson should be read against your Bible before you teach it.

Is it suitable for our denomination?

It suggests lessons suitable for any Christian denomination unless you say otherwise. Add your church’s emphasis in the box if you want it reflected.

Is there a limit?

Up to a dozen runs an hour per account, which is plenty for planning a month and not enough to be worth scraping.

What happens when I press “Make this lesson video”?

The lesson goes to the Sunday school video maker’s composer, with its voice, look and brief already set. Add your memory verse in your translation, read the script, and render; rendering is the step that spends credits.
